5 Taka CLINIC
Affordable Maternal Healthcare for Underserved Communities
Overview
5 Taka CLINIC is Mazeda Youth Foundation’s (MYF) flagship maternal health initiative, based in Nayongor, Shahrasthi, Chandpur. It provides essential maternal healthcare services to marginalized and ultra-poor mothers at a symbolic cost of just 5 Taka β removing the financial barrier that too often stands between a mother and safe, timely care during pregnancy and childbirth.
The initiative combines an on-the-ground clinic with a digital support platform, ensuring mothers in remote river-basin communities along the Dakatia and Meghna have access to care, guidance, and emergency support whenever they need it.
The App
The 5 Taka CLINIC web app β available in Bengali, English, and Nepali β connects mothers, health workers, and volunteers with:
- Pregnancy tracking and health guidance
- Appointment and checkup scheduling
- Emergency contact and referral support
- Health education resources for safe pregnancy and delivery
Why Normal (Vaginal) Delivery Matters
A central focus of 5 Taka CLINIC is promoting and enabling safe normal delivery over unnecessary or unplanned cesarean sections β a critical issue in rural Bangladesh, where C-section rates have risen sharply, often driven by cost incentives, lack of skilled birth attendants, or limited access to proper prenatal monitoring rather than medical necessity.
Normal delivery matters because it:
- Reduces health risks for the mother β lower risk of infection, faster recovery, and fewer complications in future pregnancies compared to surgical delivery
- Is significantly more affordable β unnecessary C-sections push poor families into medical debt they cannot recover from
- Supports better newborn health outcomes β natural delivery is associated with better initial respiratory and immune benefits for the baby
- Requires proper prenatal care, not surgery, to succeed β which is exactly what 5 Taka CLINIC provides: consistent checkups, early risk detection, and trained guidance so mothers can safely deliver naturally whenever possible
- By keeping mothers engaged in regular, low-cost prenatal care, 5 Taka CLINIC reduces the panic-driven, last-minute C-sections that often occur when complications go undetected until delivery day.
Our Funding Challenge
5 Taka CLINIC operates on minimal resources, sustained largely through community goodwill and MYF’s own limited funds. This severely limits the clinic’s ability to:
- Provide advanced diagnostic equipment (such as ultrasound machines)
- Expand staffing with trained midwives and health workers
- Reach more remote villages in the Dakatia-Meghna basin
- Scale from a single clinic into comprehensive maternal health coverage for the region
MYF has appealed to international partners β including the Bahrain, German, Italian, Japanese, and French Embassies, along with UNFPA β for funding support, including a direct request to the Bahrain Embassy for an ultrasound machine. Sustainable funding remains the single biggest constraint on how many mothers this program can reach.
Our Vision: A Dedicated Maternity Hospital
Building on the foundation laid by 5 Taka CLINIC, MYF’s long-term goal is to construct a dedicated maternity hospital in Shahrasthi, Chandpur β a permanent, fully-equipped facility offering:
- Safe delivery rooms staffed by trained midwives and doctors
- Emergency obstetric care for high-risk pregnancies
- Prenatal and postnatal care under one roof
- Newborn care facilities
- Affordable or free care for ultra-poor mothers who currently have no nearby hospital option
A permanent maternity hospital would transform 5 Taka CLINIC from a community outreach program into a lasting healthcare institution β ensuring that no mother in this region has to travel hours or risk an unsafe delivery due to lack of access to proper facilities.
Get Involved
Every contribution β whether funding equipment, supporting clinic operations, or backing our maternity hospital vision β directly saves mothers’ and newborns’ lives in one of Bangladesh’s most underserved regions.

Project For FreshWater
Bringing Clean, Safe Drinking Water to Underserved Communities
Access to clean drinking water remains a critical challenge for marginalized and ultra-poor communities along the Dakatia and Meghna river basins in Shahrasthi, Chandpur. Many households in this region still rely on unsafe or distant water sources, exposing families β especially women and children β to preventable waterborne diseases and daily hardship.
Through the Project For FreshWater initiative, Mazeda Youth Foundation (MYF) installs individual tubewells directly within these communities, providing sustainable access to safe drinking water for households that need it most.
How It Works
Each tubewell is uniquely identified and tracked as part of a serialized rollout (MYF-01 through MYF-20), ensuring transparency and accountability for every unit installed. Every contribution β whether from an individual donor, corporate partner, or institutional grant β funds a complete tubewell installation for a specific household or community cluster.
Why It Matters
- Reduces the spread of waterborne illness in vulnerable communities
- Saves hours otherwise spent traveling for water, particularly benefiting women and girls
- Strengthens long-term community resilience and public health outcomes
- Provides a direct, traceable impact for every donor
Current Phase: MYF-11
Support the marginalized and ultra-poor communities of Shahrasthi with a single tubewell. Each unit brings safe water directly to families who currently have no reliable access.
Get Involved
Your support β as an individual donor, corporate CSR partner, or grant-making organization β can directly fund a tubewell and change lives in these communities.

Bangladesh Mosque Network (BMN)
A Digital Welfare & Workforce Platform for Imams, Muazzins, and Khadims
Overview
Bangladesh Mosque Network (BMN) is a digital platform developed under the Mazeda Youth Foundation (MYF) umbrella, dedicated to the welfare, recognition, and professional support of mosque-based religious workers β Imams, Muazzins, and Khadims β across Bangladesh. Despite serving as the spiritual and social backbone of tens of thousands of communities, these workers are often among the most economically vulnerable and professionally invisible members of society, with no formal registry, welfare mechanism, or employment support system in place.
BMN was created to close that gap: a national digital infrastructure that brings mosque personnel into a connected, documented, and supported network β including direct access to job opportunities.
What BMN Does
Digital Registry: Creates verified profiles for Imams, Muazzins, and Khadims, documenting their roles, mosques, and years of service β building the first organized record of this workforce at scale.
Job Matching: Connects registered Imams, Muazzins, and Khadims with mosques and institutions actively seeking to hire β helping unemployed or transitioning religious workers find new positions across the country.
Welfare Support: Connects registered personnel to welfare resources, emergency assistance, and community-driven support mechanisms.
Workforce Recognition: Establishes a transparent system that acknowledges the professional identity and contribution of mosque workers, many of whom currently work without formal employment records.
Community Connectivity: Links mosques, religious workers, and local communities through a single accessible digital platform.
Why It Matters
Bangladesh has an extensive network of mosques, each relying on Imams, Muazzins, and Khadims for daily religious and community service. Yet these individuals frequently face:
- No formal contracts, pensions, or welfare safety nets
- Limited access to employment opportunities when a mosque position ends or a worker relocates
- No centralized system to verify service history or match qualified workers with vacant positions
BMN addresses this by creating the digital backbone needed to connect this underserved workforce with job opportunities, welfare programs, donors, and institutional partners β turning goodwill into organized, sustained support.
Platform
The BMN platform is live and accessible at bmnbangladesh.netlify.app, with an associated Facebook page operating under the MYF umbrella for community engagement and job outreach.
Partnership & Funding
MYF has extended outreach to international missions and institutions β including the Saudi Arabian Embassy, Omani Embassy, Malaysian High Commission, UAE Embassy, and Dhaka Bank PLC’s CSR division β to build funding and partnership support for BMN’s national rollout.
Get Involved
Organizations, mosques, and CSR partners interested in supporting the welfare and employment of Bangladesh’s mosque-based religious workforce are invited to partner with BMN.

MYF Zakat Fund
Transforming Zakat into Sustainable Livelihoods for the Ultra-Poor
Overview
The MYF Zakat Fund is a specialized, Shariah-compliant initiative by the Mazeda Youth Foundation (MYF), operating in Shahrasthi, Chandpur. Rather than providing temporary, one-time relief, this fund utilizes your Zakat to permanently lift marginalized, eligible families out of extreme poverty. We distribute resources directly to the most vulnerableβwidows, orphans, and distressed families along the Dakatia and Meghna river basinsβgiving them the tools to become self-reliant.
By strictly adhering to Islamic principles of Zakat distribution (Tamleek), we ensure that your obligatory charity is handed directly to those who qualify, transforming an annual obligation into lasting economic empowerment.
How the Zakat is Utilized
We focus on sustainable Zakat projects that provide poor families with immediate assets to generate their own steady income:
– Livelihood Assets: Purchasing sewing machines, grocery shop inventories, or rickshaws for unemployed heads of households.
– Agricultural Support: Providing livestock (cows or goats) and farming tools to ultra-poor rural families.
– Medical Emergency Assistance: Covering crucial healthcare costs, maternal care, and life-saving treatments for poor patients who cannot afford medical bills.
Why Sustainable Zakat Matters
Traditional distribution often involves giving small cash amounts or clothes, which are exhausted within days. MYF focuses on asset-based Zakat distribution.
Productive Zakat matters because it:
– Breaks the Cycle of Dependency: A single sewing machine or livestock asset can turn a Zakat recipient into a self-sufficient earner who may become a Zakat giver in the future.
– Direct & Fully Transparent: Every penny is tracked, mapped to a verified eligible family, and deployed without administrative deductions from the core Zakat allocation.
– Restores Dignity: It empowers poor families by giving them a reliable source of daily livelihood rather than forcing them to rely on continuous charity.
Our Target & Management Challenge
Identifying truly eligible (Asnaf) families requires detailed field surveys and background checks across remote villages in Chandpur. Our primary challenges include:
– Scaling the distribution to meet the massive volume of verification requests from destitute families.
– Securing enough funding upfront before seasonal micro-businesses (like local farming or tailoring) peak, ensuring families receive assets at the optimal time.
MYF maintains a transparent ledger and welcomes direct audits from individual donors, corporate CSR teams, and institutional partners looking to channel their corporate Zakat effectively.
Get Involved
Fulfill your religious obligation with absolute transparency. Your Zakat can directly purchase a lifelong livelihood asset for a family in desperate need.
